12 March 2024 Three Gastropod Species Reported in Utah for the First Time: Arion fasciatus, Cryptomastix magnidentata, and Cepaea nemoralis

Abstract

Three gastropod species were discovered in Utah in recent years that have not been previously documented in the state. These include the slug Arion fasciatus and 2 terrestrial snails: Cryptomastix magnidenta, found in Cache County, and Cepaea nemoralis, found in Salt Lake County. These species are also the first representatives of their genera found in the state. Voucher specimens are held at the Utah Museum of Natural History.

Tres especies de Gastropoda fueron descubierto en Utah en años recientes que no han sido documentado anteriormente en el estado. Estos incluye la babosa Arion fasciatus und dos caracoles de tierra: Cryptomastix magnidenta, descubierto en el condado de Cache, und Cepaea nemoralis, descubierto en el condado de Salt Lake. Estos especies son tambien los primeros de su genera reportado en el estado. Los especímenes de vales se encuentran en el Museo de Historia Natural de Utah.
