Changxing Islands, Liaodong Peninsula, China. Changxing Island is located in the Liaodong Peninsula's central and western part, surrounded by the Bohai Sea. Influenced by the monsoon climate, the island is both warm and humid. Changxing Island covers 252.5 square kilometers, with 91.6 kilometers of coastline around the island. Hilly landforms characterize the island's topography, where the west is higher and the middle and east are lower.
The port area of Changxing Island has been developed into a state-level economic and technological development zone benefiting from rich coastline resources and an excellent deep-water port in the Bohai Bay. It is also one of the most critical petrochemical industry bases in China. (Photograph taken 2020 by Jing Fang, School of Geography and Environmental Science, Tianjin Normal University, China.)
