(eds.), Today's Modern Coastal Society: Technical and Sociological Aspects of Coastal Research. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 111, pp. 1–6. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.
With the frequent occurrence of marine oil spill accidents, oil spills have caused great damage to the marine environment, marine lives, and human health. In this study, the strain SW-Ap isolated from the petroleum-polluted seawater was identified as Alcanivorax pacificus. The properties of microsphere prepared with 20 g·L–1 of CaCO3 and 30 g·L–1of sodium alginate reaches the optimum values, and 20 g·L–1 of ethyl cellulose was selected as the best coating material. Under the optimum degradation conditions, the degradation rates of petroleum and Phenanthrene by immobilized strain SW-Aq was 93.1% in 10 days and 85% in 48 hours, respectively. Ten kinds of metabolites and the main degradation pathways can be basically determined in the degradation process of Phenanthrene.
