Abstract

The phytogeographic significance of cactus endemism in river basins of Eastern Brazil is discussed and opportunities for testing a dryland refugia hypothesis are encouraged.

Die phytogeografische Bedeutung des Kakteenendemismus in den Flusseinzugsgebieten Ostbrasiliens wird diskutiert und es werden Möglichkeiten für die Prüfung einer Trokkengebietsrefugien-Hypothese angeregt.

O significado fitogeográfico do endemismo de cactos nas bacias hidrográficas do leste do Brasil é discutido e são apresentadas oportunidades para testar hipóteses de refúgios no semiárido.
